It’s A Devil of A Good Time!
The Firestarter video pokies is definitely a good place to set idle hands to work – the Devils are at play here and ready to ignite some mischief and substantial wins.
The game graphics could be a little more invested, but the design features that really stand out here are the way the symbols each drop individually into place with a range of accompanying sound effects. In fact, the sound effects are a main feature of the game all on their own. They include dreamy music, electric guitar riffs, ticking clocks, explosions and a range of bells and machine sounds. You’d expect them to quickly become annoying, but they’re actually not – someone must’ve done a lot of work to design such a garish combination of sounds that actually fall pleasantly on the ears. If you do get tired of the sound effects, you can always turn them off by clicking the speaker button at the top right hand side of the screen. The base game features an RTP of 95.16% and 7 regular symbols, including a devilish “7” symbol (highest payouts), a male and female demon and x4 explosive fruit. The Wild that can only appear in reels 1,2 and 3 substitutes for all symbols except a scatter and a Scatter symbol, which is an open matchbox. There are also 25 paylines from left to right, which isn’t too shabby, and the bets range from .50 to 250.00. There is also a double or nothing gamble feature option for every win. But the feature we really enjoyed best are the filling reels: whenever you win, the winning symbols explode and those reels drop again, giving you an extra free chance each time you win. It’s one of the less common, more loved features on any video slot game.
3 Scatter symbols can trigger 10 Free Spins where the Demon symbols become additional scatters and all 3 scatters and Wilds can appear in any position. Up to x15 more free spins can also be retriggered from within the Free Spins session, which makes this a pretty nice package except for one hitch: the Scatter symbol doesn’t appear very often. We only got our first Free Spins session after almost a half hour of play time and with no multipliers, it didn’t seem worth the long wait.
Firestarter delivers enough bang in the base game to keep the excitement flowing, but don’t hang your hopes on the Free Spins Feature.
